Knee Defender
Product DescriptionLet's face it: given seat size, crowded flights, airport security and everything else these days comfortable air travel is pretty much a lost cause. The last thing you need is somebody in front of you slamming their seat back into your lap. Contrary to popular opinion, the space behind the seat between full upright and full recline is basically a shared space; you have as much right to it as the person in front of you. For larger and taller passengers this space is really important and when somebody reclines into it your comfort is significantly impacted. Now, however, the unique, patent pending Knee Defender gives you a way to stop surprise reclining so you can at least try to negotiate a reasonable compromise on when and how much recline is acceptable. If the airlines or the FAA will not protect passengers from being battered, crunched, and immobilized by seats that are too small and aggressive reclining passengers – very real problems according to healthcare professionals, medical studies, government agencies, and even some airlines – then people need options to protect themselves. Until there is something better – or even just something else – there is Knee Defender.
Whether you are intent on protecting yourself from being crunched, want to maintain enough leg room to do some in-seat exercises because of health concerns – such as Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), sometimes called "economy class syndrome" – or you just want some warning so you can move your notebook computer out of the way before the seat is reclined, Knee Defender works "like a charm." Knee Defender is adjustable. In general, the closer the two Knee Defenders are to the seatback, the less the seat back will be able to recline. If you need to prevent as much reclining as possible, then you would slide them fully up against the seat back. On the other hand, if there is enough room for the person in front of you to recline partially – safely, without threatening injury to you – the Knee Defenders can often be set slightly away from the seat back to allow some reclining. Not only are Knee Defenders great for frequent fliers, they make great gifts for those frequent fliers on your shopping list. Order your Knee Defenders today!! Important Note: Knee Defenders have proven to be a bit controversial in use. We're pretty much of the, "Your right to recline ends where my knees begin," school of thought but it's not a settled thing. As with everything, in most cases a little polite negotiation beats confrontation. And in any case, remember: comply with the flight crew's instructions. ALWAYS. Any flight crew member's instructions have the weight of law behind them and you can get yourself tossed off the plane and/or arrested if you don't comply promptly. If time permits you could discuss it with the flight crew and the passenger in front of you but always in a friendly, cooperative manner and always making it clear that you will comply with the flight crew's decision. While policies and degree of enforcement vary from airline to airline, under FAA regulations all airlines have the right to limit or prohibit the use of pretty much anything they want on their flights. *Knee Defenders™, with their specially shaped grooves, were designed to work with a wide variety of seat and tray table designs. However, not every design could be accommodated, especially those used on some commuter planes and even on some jets. Easy to install - just lower your tray table and install one Knee Defender on each arm of
your lowered tray table – at the top of the arm, near where the arm is attached
to the table. Each Knee Defender simply straddles one of the
tray table's arms. Then, slide both Knee Defenders down the arms of the
tray table until they are snug against the seat back in front of you. Your
Knee Defenders are now in place. If the person in front of you attempts to
recline their seat, the Knee Defenders and not your knees will take the
hit.
Knee Defender was developed by a tall frequent
traveler who got tired of ending up bent into a pretzel because of small seats and
inconsiderate passengers in the seat in front of him. The design took him years to
perfect. No one likes to travel in a cramped coach airline seat but with a Knee
Defender you at least have a chance to negotiate on how much recline is mutually
agreeable.
